Ethnographic research

My dissertation project (2021-present) focuses on how older Americans are ‘aging in place’ in states with limited healthcare resources. I spent over a year on the Mississippi Gulf Coast conducting ethnographic research with kinship caregivers, healthcare workers, local politicians, housing activists, and hospice patients. Preliminary research on how caregivers use smartphone videos was funded by the Lemmelson/SVA Fellowship and presented at the 2022 American Anthropological Association conference.
